Varsity baseball coach and social studies teacher at East Ridge High School, Brian Sprout had his number 28 baseball jersey retired by his alma mater, St. Olaf College.  As past of the St. Olaf College baseball team, Sprout was a three time MIAC Conference Champion, two-time AllAmerican, three-time Conference Player of the Year and a four-time All Conference Player.  He later went on to play for both the Los Angeles Dodgers minor league team and The St. Paul Saints.
