Robotics

ERHS Robotics

Do you dream of:

  • being an Engineer? Every year our team has to design and build a robot to complete certain tasks for the competition.
  • being in Marketing? We have many different ways we have to showcase and market our team in order to win awards and raise money through sponsorships.
  • being a Web Designer? Our team has to continually update our website as well as all of our social media accounts.
  • being a Mechanic? Not only do we build the robot, but during competitions we have to be able to fix or solve any mechanical problems in short periods of time with sometimes limited resources.
  • being an Electrician?  We have to develop an electrical system to power the robot and all of the tasks it must perform in the competition
  • being in Project Management? Our team has to be able to successfully manage our time and goals in order to build a robot within 6-8weeks.
  • being in HR? We have many different lead positions for students to learn leadership  as well as many opportunities for students to learn speaking and other communication skills.
  • being a Teacher? We have camps over the summer to teach elementary and middle school students STEM.
  • being in IT?  We develop code and software, run by the electrical system, to make the robot move by itself and complete certain tasks by pushing one button.
  • being an Artist? Every year our team has to design our t-shirts as well as make buttons to give out to other teams during competitions.
  • being in Public Relations? A huge part of our team is partnering with other teams and organizations in our community to spread STEM and FIRST to students of all ages.
  • being in Finance?  Our annual budget is over $30,000 and we have to manage the budget and raise funds!

On behalf of the East Ridge Robotics Ominous Raptors...

Our team isn’t just about building the best robot for competition, we also help students to learn a variety of other valuable skills including communication, writing, leadership, and cooperation. We’ve also won more State Championships than any team so far at East Ridge.  We are looking forward to accomplishing just that and more this year and are looking for people like you to help us.  How do we know that you would be a good fit?  Because we have roles for everybody!

The year is split into 4 main seasons, preseason is from September to December, build season is from January to the beginning of March, competition season is from March to May and offseason (or outreach season is what I like to call it) is from June to August. Robotics is a year round club, but we understand that students are also juggling school and other activities/responsibilities.

Additionally feel free to search ERRORs 3130 on Instagram, YouTube, Facebook, and Twitter to see more photos and videos of our team in previous seasons. You can also check out our 2020 Outreach presentation video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eX35AtgjQsQ&feature=youtu.be which includes our chairmen’s video from last year, last year's game animation, videos of our team at competitions in the last 2 years and a video of one of our matches from last year's competition. If you are interested in joining our team or have any questions please check out our website (errors3130.weebly.com), or reach out to Juhae Song's at jcsong06@gmail.com

This year will be like no other we have experienced.  Normally, during the Raptor Roundup you’d get a chance to see us in person and drive our robot around a bit, however we do hope to have preseason meetings that you can attend instead. These meetings are a great opportunity to see our team without fully committing to the team just yet. These are uncertain times but our team has roles and meetings with both remote and in-person options available. Once school does start up again, we will communicate more information on plans and dates.

We hope you have an amazing school year and we hope to connect with you soon!
